Wooden Flute

A flute is a musical instrument. It is used worldwide. A wooden flute is a type of flute which is made of wood only. The process through which a wooden flute is made called typically called woodturning. It is the process of building, craving or making something based on wood by the use of a machine called lathe. 

Let briefly discuss about the tools require for making a wooden flute.

Roughing gouge:

Mainly it is a broad fluted gouge. Primarily it rounds spindle which is actually made of the wood. Roughing gouge is not commonly used for the cutting and grain purpose. It is dangerous in some respect for the creation of blows or for any other style or design of the faceplate work. In order to make a wooden flute it is quite necessary for the woodturning process.

Spindle gouge commonly known as detail gouge:

This is typically a gouge which is shallowly fluted. These type of detail gouge places details over the different spindles as well as some beds. Its use in the woodturning to make a wooden flute is not so much common. 

Bowl gouge:

Bowl gouge is a typical gouge which is deeply fluted. In order to rotate the inside as well as the outside parts of the bowls and vessels it is commonly used. In compared to the spindle gouge it is most commonly used in the wooden flute for rotating vessels. Very commonly it has a thicker pipe plus a very long handle as it is created in order to cut further away. It is also able to deal with forces which are necessary in the tanning process of a huge bowl. 

Skew chisel: 

It is broad and sharply pointed chisel which has a rim. The rim is running at the certain angle and covers entire length of the particular tool. It is used in wooden flute tuning in order to smooth out the plane spindle, to cut beads of different types and also put in the more details. Today these types of skew chisels are not used in the faceplate work of a wooden flute but it is only used spindle work.

Parting tool:

 It is a type of pointed device which is used in order to divide or part of the work from the particular lathe. It is also used in order to build straight line edge by the means of dividing small as well as large diameter sections. The broad parting tools that are also mentioned as the bedans can be utilized with a view to making spindle sections which is uniformly sized.

Hollowing tools:

There are variety types of hollowing tools which are primarily used for cutting out the deepest portion of the vases, step bowls and also the hollow vessels. These types of tools are mainly appeared in the long handle.

Mainly these are the tools which are most commonly used in the woodturning process of making a wooden flute. Moreover there are some other tools which are also used in the woodworking named scraper, bowl saver, auger, chatter tool, wire and so on.
